Ramadan Sobhi sentenced to one year in prison with hard labor for forgery

The Giza Criminal Court, convened in Shubra El-Kheima, sentenced Pyramids FC player Ramadan Sobhi to one year in prison for forging official documents.

The case dates back to last summer when a man was arrested at the Abu Nomros Institute of Tourism and Hotels. He claimed that Ramadan Sobhi had paid him money to take an exam at his shop.

The prosecution successfully proved Sobhi’s guilt in the forgery case, resulting in his one-year prison sentence with hard labor. The court also sentenced the man who impersonated Sobhi to prison. The institute’s security guard was acquitted, while the mastermind behind the entire scheme (who is currently at large) was sentenced to 10 years in prison.

The Public Prosecution charged all the defendants with forgery of an official document, namely the attendance and departure sheets for the third-year exam committees, purportedly issued by the Pharaohs Higher Institute for Tourism and Hotels. The first defendant allegedly signed the aforementioned documents with a forged signature attributed to the third defendant, with the complicity of the second through fourth defendants, who provided the first defendant with the necessary information to commit the forgery.

The Public Prosecution also charged the defendants with conspiring with an unknown accomplice to forge an official document, namely the answer booklets for the second-year exams, also purportedly issued by the Pharaohs Higher Institute for Tourism and Hotels. They allegedly provided the unknown accomplice with the necessary information, which he then used to forge the answer booklets and sign them with a forged signature attributed to Ramadan Sobhi.

It is worth noting that Ramadan Sobhi is facing another crisis in football, as the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) suspended him for four years after he tested positive for doping, while his contract with Pyramids FC remains valid. For two years, his future in the entire world of football remains unknown after the two incidents.
