Marca has revealed that Barcelona coach Hansi Flick has already chosen the new striker he wants the Catalan club to sign to replace Robert Lewandowski.
It has become almost certain that Lewandowski will leave Barcelona when his contract expires at the end of the current season, especially given his recent dip in form and the numerous injuries he has suffered due to his age.
According to the report, Flick sees Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic as the ideal option to replace Lewandowski at Barcelona.
The Serbian international is characterized by his immense physical strength, height, and ability to play with both feet. He also represents the classic number 9 position, which is what Flick and Barcelona want after Lewandowski.
The 25-year-old Vlahovic would be an ideal option for Barcelona from an economic standpoint, as his contract with Juventus expires at the end of the current season, meaning he could be signed on a free transfer.
There have already been contacts between Barcelona and the player’s representatives to explore the possibility of completing the deal, and negotiations are progressing smoothly. However, the current situation requires Vlahovic to agree to a significant pay cut to align with the club’s financial situation at Camp Nou.
It’s worth noting that Vlahovic suffered a serious injury last month that will keep him out until at least February. Barcelona will monitor the player’s progress in the coming months and assess his return to form before finalizing the transfer.
