Oliver Glasner has decided not to renew his contract, which expires at the end of the current season, with Crystal Palace, as he desires to work with a top club that competes on all fronts.
Glassner took over as manager of the London club in February 2014 and quickly made his mark at Selhurst Park, leading the team to their first two league titles in history.
Glassner has attracted the attention of many big clubs both in England and abroad, and in recent weeks he has been linked with a major role in replacing Arne Slott at Liverpool should the latter be dismissed.
According to English newspapers, Palace’s management negotiated with Glasner over a contract extension and offered him a significant pay rise, but the Austrian manager categorically rejected the offer and confirmed that he will leave next June.
Glasner’s next destination remains unknown, but it will almost certainly be with one of Europe’s giants. Besides Liverpool, who are considering him as a potential replacement for Slot, Manchester United remains a possible destination for the 51-year-old should Ruben Amorim leave. He may also attract interest from Manchester City following Pep Guardiola’s departure, and even Chelsea.
Glasner boasts an impressive resume, having led Eintracht Frankfurt to their first Europa League title in decades, and with Crystal Palace, he won the FA Cup and the Community Shield.
