Al-Nassr coach Jorge Jesus announced that Cristiano Ronaldo will make his AFC Champions League 2 debut in Wednesday’s match against Al-Zawraa.
Ronaldo had implicitly agreed with Jesus not to participate in the competition to avoid fatigue, but circumstances changed before the Al-Zawraa match.
The Saudi league has been on hiatus for over a month due to the Saudi national team’s participation in the Arab Cup, and consequently, there is a need to include Ronaldo in an official match to regain his fitness.
Jesus said in the pre-match press conference on Tuesday, “We are working on preparing the players after a 28-day absence from matches, which is not a short period, so we are focusing on getting the players back to full readiness.”
He added about Ronaldo, “He will be present tomorrow in the Al-Zawraa match, and he will undoubtedly contribute to strengthening the team’s capabilities.”
Al-Nassr leads its group with a perfect score of 15 points from 5 matches and has officially qualified for the round of 16. Al-Zawraa has also qualified, making the match a good opportunity to include Ronaldo and the key players without pressure or fear of injuries.
