A special tribute for Achraf Hakimi before the Morocco-Comoros match

Achraf Hakimi received a special tribute from Moroccan fans before his country’s match against Comoros in the opening game of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.

Hakimi has recovered from the horrific injury he suffered against Bayern Munich a month and a half ago and is part of Walid Regragui’s squad for the tournament being held in Morocco.

Before the Morocco-Comoros match, during the warm-up, the Royal Moroccan Football Federation honored Hakimi for winning the African Player of the Year award for 2025.

The 28-year-old received a standing ovation from the fans as he held the award, which he won for the first time in his career.

Hakimi led Paris Saint-Germain to a historic treble, with numerous contributions that made him a contender for the Ballon d’Or.

Hakimi ultimately beat Mohamed Salah to the African Player of the Year award, despite the Egyptian winning the English Premier League title with Liverpool and claiming the Golden Boot last season.

Now Hakimi hopes to lead his country to its first Africa Cup of Nations title since 1976, and has strived to return from injury quickly even though his participation in the group stage matches is doubtful.
