Atletico Madrid star Julián Alvarez believes that the rumors circulating about Barcelona’s desire to sign him are not a real problem for him; quite the opposite, in fact, despite his indifference to what is published on social media.
The Argentine star is Barcelona’s top target for next summer to replace the expected departure of Robert Lewandowski. However, the deal is extremely complicated due to Atletico Madrid’s high financial demands to allow the player to leave the Wanda Metropolitano.
In an interview with Marca, Alvarez responded to the rumors of his move to Barcelona, saying, “It doesn’t bother me. I try not to pay too much attention to it.”
He added, “But I know that people are talking about it on social media, and what is said on these sites is completely different from what is actually happening on the ground.”
He concluded, “I am very focused on this season and on what awaits me with Atletico Madrid, so I try to ignore all of that, think about myself, on continuing to develop as a player, and on achieving victories with my team.”
It is worth noting that Alvarez’s contract with Los Rojiblancos is still extended until the summer of 2030 with a release clause of 500 million euros, and according to what was mentioned by the newspaper “Mundo Deportivo”, Atletico Madrid refuses to sell him for less than 200 million euros, which is an amount that Barca cannot pay next summer.
