Herrera has been one of La Liga’s top goalkeepers in recent years, particularly renowned for his penalty-saving prowess, making him a target for Rosé derby clubs, who have long favored signing top Spanish goalkeepers.

In a press interview, Herrera explained his decision to reject the substantial Saudi offer last summer, saying, “Ultimately, money isn’t everything in life. It’s true the offer was very attractive financially, but I feel strong enough to continue competing in Spain, and I have a unique connection with Osasuna.”

He added, “The club clarified its position quickly, and I clarified mine as well, and we ended up renewing my contract, which made both parties happy and satisfied.”

He added, “I’m living the La Liga experience, and for me, it’s a reward and a dream I never imagined when I arrived as a child. I couldn’t ask for more than what I have now, and I’m very happy with what I have and hope to continue for many years.”

It’s worth noting that the 32-year-old Herrera is having a difficult season with Osasuna, as his team currently sits in 15th place with 15 points, just three points above the relegation zone.

Herrera and his team face a very tough test next Saturday when Osasuna visits Barcelona at the Spotify Camp Nou for Matchday 16 of La Liga.
