Kylian Mbappé’s name has appeared in Real Madrid’s squad for Wednesday’s Champions League match against Manchester City.
The French international suffered a knee injury in the final moments of Sunday’s match against Celta Vigo, casting doubt on his availability for the clash against Pep Guardiola’s side.
Mbappé participated in Real Madrid’s final training session this morning at Valdebebas in preparation for the Manchester City game, while eight other players were sidelined with various injuries.
According to Spanish newspapers, Mbappé is still experiencing pain in his knee and also in his broken finger. Despite this, he asked Xabi Alonso to allow him to play, even if it meant taking painkillers.
It seems that the Spanish coach and Real Madrid’s medical staff have granted Mbappé’s request, and the 25-year-old has indeed been included in the Merengues’ squad for the City showdown.
It is highly likely that Mbappé will not start the match, and he may be brought on in the final minutes of the second half if needed, to prevent his injury from worsening.
