Al Ahly is looking to sign a new striker, and it seems the club’s officials have already identified their target and will make a move in January 2026 to finalize what promises to be a significant deal.
Since Wissam Abu Ali’s departure to Columbus Crew in the United States last summer, Al Ahly has been suffering from a clear crisis in the center-forward position.
A new striker is a priority for Mahmoud El Khatib’s administration this winter, and a substantial sum has already been allocated to sign an international player who can make a real difference.
According to Egyptian media reports, several names are on Al Ahly’s shortlist, but Yazan Al Naimat has recently emerged as the top choice.
The Jordanian national team star currently plays for Al Arabi SC in Qatar and could leave this winter if his release clause, which is no more than $2 million, is activated.
Al Ahly has close ties with Qatari clubs, which opens the door for negotiations regarding the release clause amount or at least for an installment plan.
Al-Naimat scored three goals for Al-Arabi this season, but has spent most of his time on the bench. He is currently looking to move to another club, which prompted him to accept Al-Ahli’s offer.
Al-Naimat has been delivering outstanding performances, particularly when playing for the Jordanian national team, most recently in the 2025 Arab Cup where he scored in Jordan’s opening match against the UAE.
