Barcelona confirmed in an official statement that Dani Olmo suffered a dislocated shoulder during Tuesday’s match against Atlético Madrid.
The Spanish international scored Barcelona’s second goal against goalkeeper Jan Oblak, but unfortunately, he landed heavily on his left shoulder while shooting the ball into the Rojiblancos’ net and was unable to continue the match.
Olmoo underwent the necessary medical tests on Wednesday morning, which confirmed the dislocated shoulder. The medical staff opted for conservative treatment instead of surgery to realign the shoulder.
This injury effectively ends Olmo’s 2025 season.
The 26-year-old will definitely miss Barcelona’s December matches against Real Betis, Osasuna, and Villarreal in La Liga, and Eintracht Frankfurt in the Champions League. He is expected to return for the first match of 2026 against Espanyol, scheduled for January 3rd.
Barcelona’s coaching staff are currently focused on getting Olmo fit for the Saudi Super Cup semi-final against Athletic Bilbao, scheduled for January 7th in Saudi Arabia.
This is Olmo’s second injury this season, following a muscle injury that sidelined him for nearly a month between October and early November.
The former RB Leipzig star has made 17 appearances for Barcelona in all competitions this season, scoring four goals and providing two assists.
