Marc-André ter Stegen returned to Barcelona’s group training session on Monday evening and is nearing a return to competitive action.
The German goalkeeper underwent back surgery last July, and Barcelona took advantage of his need to be sidelined for more than four months to register Juan García in his place.
Now, Ter Stegen has made a full recovery and has begun participating in group training. He may soon be included in Hansi Flick’s squad for upcoming matches.
However, Ter Stegen’s recovery presents a real dilemma for Barcelona, as the club will have to offload him in January. Otherwise, they will need to find another financial solution to register Juan García.
Ter Stegen is already looking to leave Barcelona after Flick confirmed he will not be the first-choice goalkeeper, and amidst his desire to participate in the 2026 World Cup with the German national team.
Nagelsmann set a condition for Ter Stegen to participate in the World Cup with the German national team, which is to participate consistently in the coming months.
