Sky Sports Germany reported that Robert Lewandowski received an offer from a European club to join them in the upcoming winter transfer window. However, the Polish international rejected the offer and insisted on staying with Barcelona until the end of the season.
Lewandowski’s contract with Barça expires at the end of the current season, and Joan Laporta’s administration does not intend to renew it due to his age and very high salary. It now seems likely that the 38-year-old is in his final months at Camp Nou.
According to recent reports, Fenerbahçe tried to convince Lewandowski to join them in January, promising him a salary similar to his current one at Barcelona. However, the player’s response was firm: he will not leave Camp Nou before next June.
Lewandowski remains hopeful of staying at Barcelona and is reportedly willing to take a significant pay cut and accept a secondary role to continue with Hansi Flick’s squad, especially since his family is happy living in Catalonia and he himself is very comfortable there.
Lewandowski is also attracting considerable interest from AC Milan, who were also said to be planning a January move, but that seems unlikely. The Rossoneri’s only remaining hope is to sign him on a free transfer next summer.
It’s worth noting that Barcelona’s difficult financial situation makes it practically impossible to sign a striker of Lewandowski’s caliber should he leave next summer, which gives the player a glimmer of hope for a new contract with the Blaugrana.
