Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk believes the Reds are going through a real crisis, while manager Arne Slot declared that he bears full responsibility for the poor results and performances at Anfield.
Liverpool’s points tally remains at 18, and they have dropped significantly in the Premier League standings after a 3-0 defeat to Nottingham Forest, their second consecutive loss following a 3-0 defeat to Manchester City in the previous round.
Van Dijk spoke to the media after the match, saying, “Every player has to take responsibility. Football is a team sport, and we have to get over this defeat and deal with it quickly. We need to work harder.”
He added, “All the players are sad, and that’s a feeling that should prevail at this time because losing to Nottingham at home is bad, in my opinion, and that’s all I can say.”
He concluded, “We will get back to our best, but it won’t happen overnight. I won’t give up, and we will keep going.” Slot, speaking to the BBC, said, “Whether things go well or badly, it’s my responsibility. We haven’t been able to create enough chances. I’ve tried to adjust a few things, but it hasn’t worked.”
He continued, “In a few days, we have to play again in the Champions League, and then three Premier League games in a short period. Keep your heads up and keep working hard. We’re giving it our all every day.”
He concluded, “It’s always good to have experienced and capable players. Things aren’t going well at the moment.”
