Liverpool continued their disappointing run of form, most recently suffering a 3-0 defeat to Nottingham Forest at Anfield in the 12th round of the English Premier League.
This match was a historic one for Mohamed Salah, marking his 300th appearance for Liverpool in all competitions since joining the Reds in the summer of 2017. However, the Egyptian King will likely not be looking forward to it again.
Murillo opened the scoring for Nottingham in the 33rd minute, followed by Nicolo Savona’s goal in the 46th minute. Morgan Gibbs-White sealed the victory with a third goal in the 78th minute, extinguishing any hopes of a Liverpool comeback.
This is Liverpool’s second consecutive defeat in the Premier League, following their 3-0 loss to Manchester City last week.
This is only the second time in the last 10 years that Liverpool have lost a Premier League match at Anfield by three goals or more (the first being against Manchester City in 2021, a 4-1 defeat).
Furthermore, this is the first time the Reds have conceded three goals at Anfield without scoring any themselves since August 2015.
Liverpool remain on 18 points and drop to 11th place, while Nottingham Forest, who secured only their third win against Liverpool this season, move up to 12 points and 16th place.
