Barcelona responds decisively to rumors of Flick’s departure

Barcelona officials have confirmed they have no intention of letting coach Hansi Flick leave the Catalan club. President Joan Laporta and sporting director Deco emphasized their full support for the German coach during his time at Camp Nou.

Rumors have circulated in recent days that Flick is planning to leave Barcelona at the end of this season after becoming fatigued. The coach has also reportedly told his assistants that he is unhappy with the behavior of some players and that he is not receiving the support he expects from the management.

When asked about this by fans, Flick immediately dismissed the rumors as nonsense and completely unfounded.

These rumors come at a time when Flick is facing harsh criticism for his attacking style of play and the team’s apparent defensive frailties this season, with some fans even calling for his dismissal.

During the inauguration of the Camp Nou stadium on Friday, President Laporta was asked whether the board supported Flick despite all the controversy surrounding him. He responded firmly, saying, “We have complete confidence in Flick.”

He continued, “The sporting aspect doesn’t worry me. We’re focused on improving day by day. I have confidence in our coach and his clear ideas. We trust our coach and are satisfied with the team’s progress.”

Deco also commented, saying, “We know very well how we can improve. We faced difficulties last season and overcame them. The team is united, and we’re getting our injured players back. There’s no reason to change.”

Flick’s contract with Barcelona runs until the summer of 2027 after he led the Blaugrana to three domestic titles last season.

This season, Barcelona sits second in La Liga, five points behind Real Madrid. They also have only seven points from their first four Champions League matches, having won two, lost to Paris Saint-Germain, and drawn with Club Brugge.
