Morocco’s national team coach, Walid Regragui, confirmed that he will include Achraf Hakimi in his squad for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, which will be held in Morocco.
The Paris Saint-Germain star suffered a serious injury during last week’s Champions League match against Bayern Munich and needs six to eight weeks to recover.
After announcing Morocco’s squad for the November international break, Regragui was asked by the media about Hakimi’s availability for the tournament. He replied, “Achraf Hakimi will be with us at the Africa Cup of Nations, both on and off the field.”
He added, “If there’s a player who can recover quickly from injury, it’s Hakimi. I’m sure of it. He will only play for us if he is 100% fit.”
Regragui’s statements indicate that his current plan is for Hakimi to miss the group stage matches, limiting him to supporting his country from the bench in his usual leadership role with the Atlas Lions.
Starting from the round of 16, which begins in early 2026, Hakimi could participate if he adheres to the treatment schedule and makes a full recovery.
