Spanish network ABC dropped a bombshell, revealing that Barcelona coach Hansi Flick is considering leaving the Catalan club due to feeling exhausted and overwhelmed by the way things are going at Camp Nou.
Flick, who led Barcelona to a domestic treble last season and a Champions League semi-final appearance, has recently grown increasingly dissatisfied with everything at Barça, particularly since September. He has reportedly told his assistants that he is extremely tired and doesn’t think he will last much longer with the Blaugrana.
The German coach’s contract runs until the summer of 2027, but if things continue as they are, it seems likely he will leave Barcelona at the end of the current season.
According to the report, what frustrates Flick most is the unprofessional and distracted behavior of some players, in addition to feeling that he is no longer receiving the necessary support from the club’s management, unlike last season.
Flick had previously made statements contradicting the ABC report, repeatedly affirming his happiness at Barcelona but consistently refusing to sign long-term contracts. He only renewed for one more year last year.
Things haven’t gone well for Flick this season. Barcelona lost their La Liga lead to Real Madrid, suffered their first-ever El Clásico defeat, and collected only 6 points from their first 3 Champions League matches, including a painful 2-1 loss to Paris Saint-Germain at Montjuïc.
Criticism of Flick began mounting in September due to his attacking style of play and its physical toll on his players. Spanish newspapers have also started blaming him, considering him a major contributing factor to the muscle injuries plaguing Barcelona players this season.
