Zamalek decides to sack Yannick Ferrera

The Zamalek board has decided to dismiss coach Yannick Ferrera due to poor results.

According to Egyptian media reports, the decision was unanimous within Hussein Labib’s administration, pending final approval from sporting director John Edward.

It is said that Edward, under pressure from fans and even within the administration, will endorse the board’s decision and dismiss the Belgian coach.

Ahmed Abdel Raouf will take over as interim coach for Zamalek next Sunday against Tala’ea El-Gaish, pending the appointment of either another local interim coach or a permanent foreign coach before the Egyptian Super Cup scheduled for next Thursday.

Zamalek had stumbled in their last four Egyptian Premier League matches, drawing with El Gouna, Ghazl El Mahalla, and National Bank of Egypt, and suffering a 2-1 defeat to Al Ahly in the derby after leading 1-0 until the 70th minute.

Ferreira took over as Zamalek’s coach at the start of the season, and since then has managed 13 matches, winning seven, losing two, and drawing four.
