Barcelona captain Frenkie de Jong criticized Dani Carvajal for his behavior with Lamine Yamal after the end of El Clásico, pointing out that the 18-year-old’s pre-match statements were inaccurate.
As soon as the final whistle blew at the Santiago Bernabéu, Carvajal approached Yamal and told him, “You talk too much.” He rebuked him after Yamal’s widely reported remarks, “Real Madrid steals and then complains,” which sparked considerable controversy.
After the match, De Jong spoke about what had happened and said, “I think Carvajal is a bit exaggerated.”
He added, “Carvajal can speak privately with Lamine. If you’re a teammate of Lamine in the Spanish national team and know him, you can call him instead of talking to him on the pitch.”
He continued, “What did he say? Did he say Real Madrid steals? He didn’t say that, not directly. People say things to him, but I never heard Lamine say anything like that. It’s all exaggerated. No problem.”
Vinicius Junior and Thibaut Courtois also joined the brawl against Yamal, taking advantage of Real Madrid’s 2-1 win that left them five points clear of Barça at the top of La Liga.
