Vinicius Junior fumes after being substituted in El Clásico

Vinicius Junior couldn’t contain his anger after coach Xabi Alonso’s decision to substitute him during Barcelona’s La Liga El Clásico match at the Santiago Bernabéu on Sunday.

From the first minute of the match, Vinicius appeared to be in high spirits, winning a penalty that was overturned, setting up Jude Bellingham’s second goal, and making several dangerous plays between the first and second halves.

However, Alonso’s decision to substitute the Brazilian international for teammate Rodrygo in the 72nd minute was a decision that came as a surprise.

When Vinicius saw his number on the substitution board, he exclaimed, “Me?” He then left the field muttering angry words, not greeting Alonso, and even refusing to sit on the bench in protest at the coach’s decision to substitute him.

This isn’t the first time Vinicius has been substituted by Alonso and appeared angry. This has happened more than once this season, and there have been numerous reports of a poor relationship between the player and his coach.

Despite Alonso’s assertions that Vinicius is an important player to him, it’s clear that he prefers Mbappé, who has played almost every full match. This angers Vinicius and makes him feel unfair.
