Bayern Munich announced in an official statement that it has extended coach Vincent Kompany’s contract for an additional two years, keeping him at the Allianz Arena until 2029 instead of 2027.
The Belgian coach is in his second year at Bayern Munich, having taken over in the summer of 2024, succeeding Thomas Tuchel. He has so far won two titles: the Bundesliga and the German Super Cup.
With Bayern Munich’s impressive start to the season, winning every match in all competitions, Bayern officials saw Kompany as the ideal choice to continue leading the German club for the long term.
Sporting Director Max Eberl said of the renewal: “I am delighted with this extension. When we signed Vinny, we had a clear vision of our shared path, and he quickly proved that he will lead Bayern Munich forward, both on and off the pitch.”
He added, “He is a symbol that unites the players, the fans, and everyone at the club, and we want to develop something with him for the long term.”
Kompany expressed his happiness at staying so long with Bayern Munich, saying, “I am grateful and honored, and I would like to thank Bayern Munich for the trust and work environment they have provided me from day one. I feel as if I’ve been here longer and that I understand the club well.”
He concluded, “It’s been a great experience so far; we’ve started a great journey. Let’s keep working hard and celebrate more successes.”
The 39-year-old coach has led Bayern Munich in a total of 67 matches in all competitions, winning 49 of them, losing nine, and drawing nine.
