Valencia Sues Netflix Over Vinicius ‘Lies’

Valencia CF has filed a lawsuit against Netflix over the content of its documentary about Real Madrid star Vinicius Junior’s alleged racism at Mestalla Stadium.

The Brazilian star suffered a severe attack from Valencia fans during various matches at Mestalla Stadium, and this was mentioned in the film, with the addition that Valencia fans also chanted racist chants against the Real Madrid star.

Valencia asked Netflix months ago to clarify that much of the film’s content was inaccurate. In a statement at the time, the club described the content as “slanderous.”

With Netflix failing to act, Valencia decided to take legal action and seek substantial damages due to the lies circulated in the documentary.

Valencia claims that the film showed footage of fans at Mestalla Stadium attacking Vinicius, calling him “stupid,” but that this was translated as “monkey,” which constitutes clear manipulation.

Meanwhile, investigations at the time concluded that three fans were involved in insulting Vinicius, and they were sentenced to eight months in prison and a two-year stadium ban. Valencia is demanding that this ruling be mentioned in the documentary as well, highlighting the club’s commitment to rejecting racism, something Netflix has not done.
