Liverpool manager Arne Slot surprised everyone by recently excluding one of the Reds’ most prominent stars from their Champions League match against Galatasaray.
Liverpool announced the squad for the game against Galatasaray in Istanbul, which did not include Federico Chiesa.
Chiesa was not included in the European squad, but after Giovanni Leone suffered a cruciate ligament injury, the Italian star replaced him.
Despite Chiesa’s impressive performances this season, most recently scoring against Crystal Palace on Saturday, Slot decided to leave him out of the squad.
Whether Slot’s decision was technical or whether Chiesa was suffering from an injury remains controversial among Reds fans.
Liverpool won their first Champions League match 3-2 against Atletico Madrid, while Galatasaray suffered a heavy 5-0 defeat to Eintracht Frankfurt.
