Despite what appeared to be a breakthrough between Real Madrid and Vinicius Junior regarding renewal negotiations, a new development has disrupted the talks between the two parties in recent days.
Mundo Deportivo reported that Vinicius’ agent wants a large bonus from Real Madrid, similar to the one Kylian Mbappé received last year, in order for the Brazilian to renew his contract at the Santiago Bernabéu.
Mbappé’s transfer bonus to Real Madrid is said to be €40 million, and the Frenchman will receive it over the five years, which would bring his total salary with Real Madrid to over €30 million per year.
In any case, Florentino Pérez’s administration rejects the idea of offering Vinicius a bonus similar to Mbappé’s, believing it would open the door to a rebellion by other stars, such as Jude Bellingham and Rodrygo, when they negotiate contract renewals in the near future.
Real Madrid’s management informed Vinicius’ agent of this matter, once again freezing negotiations between the two parties pending a compromise that satisfies all parties.
The report confirms that Real Madrid officials are confident that a breakthrough will inevitably occur in the coming months, culminating in Vinicius’s renewal, especially since the player himself wants to continue with Xabi Alonso’s squad and has expressed this on several occasions.
Ultimately, Vinicius’s constant comparison to Mbappé, both financially and sportingly, remains the primary reason for the complexity of this issue. The 25-year-old is unwilling to be a shadow player in Madrid and wants to remain as he was before the arrival of the Frenchman, the most important star at the Bernabéu.
