Trent Alexander-Arnold’s absence from Real Madrid will not be short following the injury he sustained in the Champions League match against Marseille.
The English star left the match at the Santiago Bernabéu just five minutes into the match due to a muscle injury.
According to The Athletic, Arnold is suffering from a hamstring injury and will undergo comprehensive tests in the coming hours to determine its severity and the exact length of his absence.
However, given the nature of the injury, Arnold will initially be out for at least three weeks. If the injury is worse than expected, his absence could extend to two or two and a half months, depending on the speed of his recovery.
Arnold will miss the matches against Espanyol, Levante, Athletic Bilbao, and Villarreal in La Liga, and Kairat in the Champions League. He is expected to return after the international break.
Arnold joined Real Madrid from Liverpool for €10 million and was injured before the Club World Cup semi-final against Paris Saint-Germain. Xabi Alonso clearly preferred Dani Carvajal over him after the latter recovered from his injury.
Since the start of the season, the 26-year-old has played just 155 minutes across five matches, and with his injury recurring, his position as a starter upon his return will be far from easy.
