Thiago Alcantara has returned to Barcelona as assistant coach to Hansi Flick, the Catalan club announced on Thursday.
At the start of Flick’s time at Barcelona, Alcantara worked with him for about two months before the former Bayern Munich player decided to return to his family and take a break from football.
At the start of the current season, rumors circulated about Alcantara’s desire to return, and Flick appears to have warmly welcomed the news, reuniting the two.
Alcantara’s role with Flick will include collaborating on tactical aspects and preparing training sessions, among other tasks, contributing his experience and vision of the game to enrich the team’s daily work.
It’s worth noting that Alcantara has enjoyed a close relationship with Flick since their time together at Bayern Munich, which is why the player agreed to support him at the beginning of his career at Barcelona. It seems the other German has decided to return the favor and give the Catalan legend a chance to begin his coaching career.
