Once again, Jose Mourinho will receive a huge sum of money from his dismissal. Turkish newspapers have finally revealed the amount the Fenerbahçe management will have to pay the “Special One” after the decision to terminate his services.
Fenerbahçe sacked Mourinho after failing to qualify for the Champions League group stage, after losing 1-0 on aggregate to Benfica in the play-offs. The coach also criticized the management, claiming that they did not grant him the signings he requested to compete with Galatasaray and continue with the “Big Ears.”
Fenerbahçe management hesitated to sack Mourinho because of the compensation he would receive, but ultimately decided to take this step, which, according to recent reports, cost them €21 million!
Mourinho alone will receive €15 million in severance pay, while his coaching staff will receive another €6 million.
This is the third-largest severance pay Mourinho has received in his career, after €31 million from Chelsea (over two terms) and €22 million from Manchester United.
It’s worth noting that Mourinho’s total earnings from his sackings at Chelsea, Real Madrid, Manchester United, Tottenham, Roma, and most recently Fenerbahçe amount to €108 million.
