Barcelona Announces Gavi’s Injury, Reveals Its Severity

Barcelona announced in an official statement that Gavi had sustained an injury, confirming the Spanish star’s absence from Sunday’s La Liga match against Rayo Vallecano.

Barcelona fans were concerned in recent hours after Spanish media reported that Gavi’s injury occurred in the same foot where he had previously suffered a torn cruciate ligament.

According to the Catalan club’s statement, Gavi was experiencing pain in his right knee, and accordingly, Hansi Flick and the medical staff decided not to allow him to participate in the match against Rayo Vallecano.

The statement did not specify the length of the 20-year-old’s absence or the severity of his injury, leaving it open and dependent on “the speed of recovery.”

Cadena Ser reported that tests on Gavi confirmed that his injury was not serious and that there was no cause for the major concern that has arisen in recent years.

However, as a precaution, Barcelona decided to exclude the player from all matches. They also contacted officials from the Spanish Football Federation to request the player’s withdrawal from the national team camp, a request approved by coach Luis de la Fuente.

Unless further developments occur, it is assumed that Gavi will be able to return to Barcelona’s squad for the match against Valencia two weeks from now, upon the return from the international break.
