Mohamed Salah believes Liverpool are not the favorites to win the Premier League title this season. The “Egyptian King” also revealed the role he currently plays at Anfield to help the Reds in various aspects.
Salah said in a media interview, “I’ve said it before, both today and during the PFA Awards. Arsenal are the favorites. They have a team that has been playing together for five or six years, so there’s a great chemistry between them.”
He added, “Arteta has been with this team for this long, and that makes things easier because the players know each other well.”
He continued, “As for teams like us and City, there are a lot of changes in the squad, which makes it difficult at times. Of course, teams like those led by Pep Guardiola are always favorites, but my personal opinion is that Arsenal is number one this season.”
Salah added, speaking about himself, “My motivations this season are a little different. They’re no longer individual, because I’ve achieved almost everything in that regard. Now, what matters to me is teamwork. I want the team to win the Premier League.”
He continued, “My role at Liverpool isn’t to make decisions, but Sloat gives me the space to express my opinion sometimes. I’ve discussed transfer plans with him, and he always listens attentively. It’s something I appreciate very much.”
Liverpool have won their first two Premier League matches of the season, against Bournemouth and Newcastle, with Salah scoring in the first. The Reds are now preparing to face Arsenal in the third round on Sunday, before the international break begins.
