The series of injuries to Neymar da Silva continues, with the latest episode coming just days before the international break, during which the Santos star was expected to return to the Brazilian national team.
According to Globo Sport, Neymar has injured his thigh muscle and will be unable to participate with Brazil in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Chile and Bolivia next September.
Carlo Ancelotti had been planning for Neymar’s first appearance under his leadership, having preferred not to risk him and not called him up last June. However, injuries have again plagued the 33-year-old, preventing him from representing his country.
Neymar will complete two full years without playing for the Brazilian national team, with his last appearance for the Samba team dating back to October 2023, when he suffered a cruciate ligament tear. Since then, he has been unable to regain his form or achieve consistency in his career.
Neymar returned to Santos last January after two mediocre years with Al Hilal, hoping to regain his fitness. However, the player has yet to perform at the desired level, and just days ago, he witnessed his team’s resounding 6-0 defeat in the Brazilian league.
In general, Neymar has lacked consistency due to injuries. Over the past few months, he has participated in only 15 matches, scoring three goals and providing three assists.
