Saudi media outlets have reported that Al-Ittihad is attempting to conclude a major deal before the end of the current summer transfer window, under the urging and pressure of star player Karim Benzema.
Al-Ittihad started its season on a modest note, exiting the Saudi Super Cup at the hands of Al-Nassr, losing 2-1 in Hong Kong. Benzema believes that Laurent Blanc’s squad needs new reinforcements to maintain last season’s success.
According to Saudi newspapers, Benzema has urged Al-Ittihad to sign his former Real Madrid teammate, Casemiro.
The Brazilian international still has an extended contract with Manchester United, but the Red Devils’ management is open to selling him given his advanced age, given the presence of other options preferred by coach Ruben Amorim.
Given Benzema’s strong relationship with Casemiro, he believes the 33-year-old is the ideal support for the midfield. He is urging the Al-Ittihad management to complete this deal with all his might, seeing numerous benefits in it on various levels.
Casemiro’s strong personality will benefit the Al-Ittihad dressing room, and coach Laurent Blanc welcomes the deal from a technical standpoint.
Al-Ittihad’s management has not yet made a final decision regarding the signing of Casemiro or any other player, but it is certain that the Jeddah Tigers intend to make moves to secure reinforcements before the summer transfer window closes, given the fierce competition in the Roshen League against Al-Nassr, Al-Hilal, and Al-Ahli.
