Despite his age, Barcelona is “forced” to renew Lewandowski’s contract!

Sport newspaper revealed that there is a strong trend within Barcelona’s management to offer Robert Lewandowski a contract extension for another year.

The Polish international’s contract expires at the end of the current season, and all expectations pointed to his departure to the Saudi League as Barça signed a new young striker.

However, surprisingly, Joan Laporta’s management is currently skeptical of this idea. The reason is the stifling financial crisis the Catalan club is experiencing, which will practically prevent the signing of a world-class striker.

The management believes it is necessary to wait and closely monitor Lewandowski’s performance this season. If he maintains the same level he showed last season, the club will give him the option to renew for another year, even though he would be 38 years old by then.

Barcelona values the significant role Lewandowski plays in the dressing room, in terms of leadership and support for young players, and his close relationship with coach Hansi Flick is beneficial for all parties.

Lewandowski missed Barcelona’s opening La Liga match against Real Mallorca due to injury, but should be ready to return to action starting with the upcoming match against Levante on Saturday.
