Cristiano Ronaldo continues to play an important role for Al-Nassr off the pitch, this time after Bild revealed his direct and decisive intervention in the Kingsley Coman deal.
The French international has terminated his contract with Bayern Munich and will join Al-Nassr within hours in a deal estimated at over €30 million.
According to the German newspaper, Ronaldo was the one who asked Al-Nassr’s management to sign Coman. He also praised the 29-year-old’s abilities and the immediate impact he could make if he joined Jorge Jesus’ squad.
Initially, Al-Nassr’s management was somewhat hesitant to sign Coman, but Ronaldo led an internal campaign to convince the Saudi club’s officials of the feasibility of the deal, pressing hard to complete it over any other available winger options.
Koeman learned of Ronaldo’s actions, which greatly facilitated the French player’s eventual acceptance of Al-Nassr’s offer, out of appreciation for Ronaldo’s eagerness to play alongside the Bayern Munich star next season.
This isn’t the first time Ronaldo has intervened to close a deal. He is also said to have played a major role in closing the deal for Joao Felix, after the Portuguese was close to returning to Benfica.
