Manchester City rejects initial bid from Tottenham for star player

Tottenham Hotspur have moved to sign Manchester City star Savinho, following a request from manager Thomas Frank for a final attacking boost before the end of the summer transfer window.

Savino joined City last summer from Girona, but failed to make the desired impact in his first season with Pep Guardiola’s side, despite previously being one of the best young wingers in the world.

According to renowned journalist Fabrizio Romano, the player is now open to the idea of moving to Tottenham, while City’s management is reluctant to sell, but will not stand in the way of the Brazilian as long as he desires to leave.

Pep Guardiola’s stance over the years with City has remained consistent: if a player wants to leave, they must leave. That’s why he is expected to end up with the Europa League champions in the coming days.

Tottenham has already submitted an initial offer to City for Savinho, worth €50 million, but the City management rejected it. They want to raise more money to compensate the 21-year-old.

Negotiations between the two clubs are expected to resume in the coming hours, and Spurs are reportedly willing to increase their offer to more than €60 million to close the deal before the start of the new season next Friday.

Savinho made 48 appearances in all competitions for City last season, scoring 16 goals and providing three assists.
