Italian giants attempt to sign Rasmus Hojlund

Manchester United have informed striker Rasmus Hojlund that he is not wanted at Old Trafford and that he must find a new club or face being benched until the end of the current season.

The Red Devils signed striker Benjamin Sisko from RB Leipzig for approximately €90 million, with Matheus Cunha the first summer signing. Hojlund is therefore completely out of the plans of coach Ruben Amorim.

Although the player is determined to stay and fight for his place, Sky Sports confirms that he has also begun exploring options outside of United.

AC Milan has emerged as the most likely destination for Hojlund, as the Italian giants have begun exploring the possibility of signing the Danish international, starting with knowing the numbers.

The network revealed that Milan is willing to cover Hojlund’s entire salary, but only on the condition that the deal is on loan, with no mandatory purchase clause next summer, a current point of contention between the Italian club and Manchester United.

United’s management wants to get rid of Hojlund completely by including a mandatory purchase clause of €45 million next summer. Milan is only willing to pay €6 million for the player on loan, and fears a mandatory purchase due to the player’s inconsistent performances.

The two sides are expected to reach common ground in the coming days, especially since United needs to offload surplus players to balance its financial accounts. Hojlund will likely be the first to leave.

It’s worth noting that Hojlund enjoyed a successful spell with Atalanta, which prompted the Red Devils to sign him for €77 million in the summer of 2023. However, the 22-year-old has scored only 26 goals in 96 appearances for the English club in all competitions.
