Lewandowski’s Relatively Long Absence for Barcelona Due to Injury

Sport revealed the length of time Barcelona striker Robert Lewandowski will be out of action following the sudden injury he sustained last Thursday.

Barcelona announced in an official statement that Lewandowski had sustained a left thigh muscle injury, without specifying when he would return to Hansi Flick’s squad.

According to the latest report, Lewandowski’s injury is not serious, but Barcelona does not want to risk bringing him back before he has fully recovered and the pain has subsided, fearing a relapse in the middle of the long season ahead for the Catalan club.

In principle, the Polish international needs at least three weeks to be ready to return and participate in Barcelona’s matches.

This means that Lewandowski will miss the opening match of La Liga against Mallorca, as well as the matches against Levante and Rayo Vallecano. He is expected to return for the Blaugrana’s first match after the international break against Valencia, which is also expected to mark the return to Camp Nou.

With Lewandowski absent, Flick will have two options: either rely on Ferran Torres or Marcus Rashford as the striker, or rely on the false nine, as happened more than once last season, via Raphinha.
