Pharco signs sixth Dutch player in Egyptian Premier League history

Pharco has concluded a remarkable new deal with the signing of Yahya Boussakou on a free transfer, making him the sixth Dutch player in the history of the Egyptian Premier League.

Boussakou, of Moroccan origin, has been without a club, according to Transfermarkt, since the end of his contract with Dutch club Telstar in January 2024. He plays primarily as a right winger.

Pharco’s official account announced the deal, saying, “Yahya Bouskou is our newest player from the land of the mills.”

Boussakou will be the second Dutch player in the Egyptian Premier League this season, following Wadi Degla’s signing with Mes Candorp, and the sixth overall in the competition’s history, following Rodney Antwi with Wadi Degla, Sidney Schmeltz with Petrojet, Baye Camara with Aswan, and Reda El-Borgy with Smouha.

Boussakou is an extension of the many signings made by Pharco this season, most notably Angolan Theo Hernandez, Hussein Hosni, Ahmed Refaei, Youssef Sayed Abdel Hafeez, Islam El-Mozain, and goalkeeper Ahmed Daadour.

Pharco will open their Egyptian Premier League campaign against Enppi next Sunday at Al Max Stadium in Alexandria.

Pharco faces a major challenge next season after losing a number of their stars in the last transfer window. Amr Nasser and Ahmed Sherif left for Zamalek, while center-back Yassin Marei moved to Al Ahly.

Pharco finished seventh in the Egyptian Premier League last season, although their sporting director, John Edward, left to take over at Zamalek in early July.
