Lewandowski and Olmo Injuries Cause Panic at Barcelona

Barcelona announced in an official statement that Robert Lewandowski has suffered a muscle injury that will keep him out for an unspecified period.

According to the statement, Lewandowski is suffering from a muscle problem in his left hamstring, which will cause him to miss Sunday’s match against Como in the Joan Gamper Trophy.

The exact length of Lewandowski’s absence has not been determined, and Barcelona simply stated that the 37-year-old will return to action depending on the speed of his recovery.

Meanwhile, Mundo Deportivo reported that Dani Olmo did not participate in Barcelona’s training on Friday.

The Spanish international is also suffering from a muscle overload that has prevented him from participating in training. This is likely to keep him out of the Como match as well, for fear of the injury worsening and leading to a prolonged absence.

As for Lewandowski, there are serious doubts about his availability for the opening La Liga match against Mallorca on August 16. As for Olmo, if he doesn’t find a replacement, he should be able to make it in without any problems.

With Lewandowski absent, coach Hansi Flick will be forced to rely on Ferran Torres as the outright striker, or allow new signing Marcus Rashford to replace the Polish international.

The duo’s muscle injuries are undoubtedly a cause for concern within Barcelona, given that the upcoming season will be long and intense. If the players are not physically ready, injuries will increase, undermining the Blaugrana’s hopes of achieving the same success as last season.
