With Real Madrid’s permission, La Liga star moves to Napoli

Girona left-back Miguel Gutierrez will move to Napoli on a permanent transfer after the two clubs reached an agreement in the final hours on all the details.

Gutierrez has been one of La Liga’s most prominent players over the past two years. His impressive performances on the left flank earned him a call-up to the Spanish national team and he was on the radar of his former club, Real Madrid, for a return to the Santiago Bernabéu.

According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, Napoli and Girona have agreed to buy Gutierrez for €18 million, plus additional bonuses based on the player’s individual and collective success with the southern Italian club.

The main condition for completing the deal was Real Madrid’s approval, as the club still holds the advantage of re-signing Gutierrez according to the clause in the three-way contract between the player, Girona, and Real Madrid.

Real Madrid’s management did not hesitate to grant permission for the deal, as the team currently has no need for Gutierrez’s services after purchasing Álvaro Carreras from Benfica for €50 million, and with Ferland Mendy and Fran Garcia also available at left-back.

It is worth noting that Gutierrez will sign a long-term contract with Napoli, keeping him at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium until the summer of 2030.

Gutierrez will be Napoli’s seventh signing of the summer, following the free signings of Kevin De Bruyne and Luca Marianichi for €9 million, as well as the loan signings of Lorenzo Luca and goalkeeper Milinkovic-Savic, as well as PSV Eindhoven star Noah Lang, and the biggest deal, Sam Bukema, from Bologna, which cost the club €31 million.
