Al-Hilal has reached a final agreement with Liverpool to sign Darwin Nunez, in a deal that will be one of the biggest in the 2025 summer transfer window.
The Blue Wave has been searching for a new striker since last May and has repeatedly tried to convince Victor Osimhen to join them. However, the Nigerian international opted to stay in Europe and made a permanent move to Galatasaray from Napoli for €75 million.
According to Saudi media, coach Simone Inzaghi has clearly asked Al-Hilal’s management to consider signing Darwin Nunez, especially since their primary target, Alexander Isak, has informed Al-Hilal officials of his desire to move to Liverpool only if he leaves Newcastle.
Journalist Fabrizio Romano revealed that Al Hilal officially contacted Liverpool in the past few hours, and the negotiations were successful. The two clubs agreed to transfer Nunez to the Roshen League for a fee estimated at €65 million, divided between €53 million guaranteed and another €12 million in “easy-to-achieve variables.”
However, the deal is not finalized. Nunez has not yet expressed his approval of Al Hilal’s offer, although initial indications suggest the Uruguayan international will accept the move given the huge salary offered to him, estimated at more than €20 million per year.
Nunez is aware that he must leave Liverpool after the signing of Hugo Ekitike and the approaching of Alexander Isak, which means the former Benfica player is out of coach Arne Slot’s plans. However, the hesitation over a move to Al Hilal stems from his desire to continue in Europe.
Napoli had identified the 26-year-old as their primary attacking target, but Liverpool’s high financial demands caused the southern club to back out of the deal, leaving Al-Hilal as the only option currently on the table for the player.
