Sesko Decides: Manchester United or Newcastle?

The case of Leipzig star Benjamin Sesko was one of the most unusual in the summer transfer market, after his agent agreed with Newcastle United and then Manchester United on the personal details of his transfer to both clubs.

Newcastle, seeking compensation for the expected departure of Alexander Isak, sent a huge offer totaling €90 million to Leipzig, before Manchester United responded with a record €85 million bid.

At first, the player was confused, especially since Newcastle and United would offer him almost the same salary (over £250,000 per week). The situation remained in limbo for the past few hours until the player finally made his final decision.

Journalist Fabrizio Romano revealed that the Slovenian international had decided to move to Manchester United and informed the Red Devils officials of this decision in order to continue negotiations with Leipzig and conclude the deal in the coming days.

The 23-year-old’s preference for a move to United comes despite the fact that the English giants will not participate in European competition next season, unlike Newcastle. However, Sesko believes he will have the opportunity to shine more than coach Ruben Amorim and is ready to sign a long-term contract until the summer of 2030.

Sesko will be United’s third attacking signing this summer, following the €70 million signing of Matheus Cunha from Wolverhampton Wanderers and the biggest deal to date, the €75 million signing of Bryan Mbembo from Brentford.
