Al-Ahli hijack Enzo Millot move to Atletico Madrid at final hour

The German newspaper “Bild” reported that Al-Ahli of Saudi Arabia is close to concluding a major deal this summer: the signing of Stuttgart player Enzo Millot.

In recent weeks, Atletico Madrid has intensified its negotiations to sign the French player, with some newspapers even confirming that an agreement had been reached between the two parties on the deal, pending the activation of the release clause.

However, in the final hours, Al-Ahli intervened forcefully in the deal, at the direct recommendation of coach Matthias Jaissle, and made an unmissable financial offer to Millot, who in turn agreed to move to the Saudi League.

Millot’s contract with Stuttgart includes a €23 million release clause, which is only activated if the 23-year-old moves to a team in one of the five major leagues. Thus, Al-Ahly was forced to pay more money to the German club to close the deal.

According to Bild, the deal will cost Al Ahli approximately €30 million, plus some add-ons. Millot will become the first foreign player to join the club. He will undergo a medical on Tuesday, after which his arrival in Jeddah will be officially announced.

Millot has made 113 appearances for Stuttgart in all competitions since joining the German club from Monaco in the summer of 2021, scoring 22 goals and providing 21 assists. He also led the southern club to one title, the DFB-Pokal, last season.
