Hakimi could be sentenced to 15 years in prison… and Mbappé defends him!

The public prosecutor in the French city of Nanterre has demanded a 15-year prison sentence for Achraf Hakimi on rape charges.

The incident dates back to 2023, when a woman accused Hakimi of rape. The player has consistently maintained that it was merely an attempt at blackmail.

The public prosecutor signed a memorandum on August 1st requesting that the Moroccan player be referred to an urgent trial. The matter now lies with the investigating judge, who will decide whether or not to formally file the charges.

Kylian Mbappé, Real Madrid star and a close friend of Hakimi, came out to strongly defend the Paris Saint-Germain full-back, saying, “We were out for dinner, which ended in an unexpected disturbance. That evening, we went to a restaurant. Achraf completely collapsed and cried.”

He added, “He was fine. He talked about a relationship with a woman from whom he felt no resistance, but he told me they didn’t have sex without telling me why.”

He continued, “Boundaries and behavior off the pitch are a topic we discuss regularly and are very careful about. Even when Hakimi was drunk, I never saw him act inappropriately.”

If the charges are proven against Hakimi, he could face a severe penalty of 15 years in prison. Meanwhile, the player’s lawyer, Fanny Colin, emphasized that all the allegations are baseless, that her client is innocent, and that the court will soon prove his innocence.

It’s worth noting that Hakimi has had one of the best seasons of his career, having achieved a historic treble with Paris Saint-Germain, to the point that many have tipped him as a possible candidate for the 2025 Ballon d’Or.
