Marcus Rashford on the verge of joining Barcelona

Barcelona has made an official offer to Manchester United to sign Marcus Rashford this summer, according to various British media outlets in the past few hours.

Rashford was completely out of United’s plans for the new season due to his strained relationship with manager Ruben Amorim. He was also stripped of the number 10 shirt and given to new signing Matheus Cunha, and the Red Devils’ management told him to look for a new club.

Meanwhile, Barcelona was considering signing Neco Williams, who might change his mind and stay with Athletic Bilbao. Luis Díaz was then the top target to become the new left winger at Camp Nou, but Liverpool’s excessive financial demands and the entry of Bayern Munich made the deal nearly impossible.

Ultimately, according to The Athletic, Barcelona decided to proceed with its alternative plan and sign Marcus Rashford, especially since the player welcomed the move and made financial concessions for the sake of his dream of wearing the Catalan shirt.

Barcelona offered United a one-season loan deal for Rashford, with an option to buy in the summer of 2026.

United have initially accepted the offer, but there are still some final touches expected to be finalized in the next few hours, after which the deal will be completed without incident.

According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, the move to sign Rashford came as a direct decision from coach Hansi Flick after Barça officials informed him of the difficulty of signing Diaz due to Liverpool’s desire to obtain at least €100 million from selling the Colombian international.

It is worth noting that Barcelona has made two official deals so far this summer: Juan Garcia from Espanyol for €25 million and the Swedish player of Syrian origin, Ronnie Bardez, from Copenhagen for €2 million.
