Former Al Ahly Star Moves to Pyramids FC

Pyramids FC has finalized an agreement with Al Wakrah SC to sign star player Hamdi Fathi, who will join the Egyptian giants starting next season.

Fathi played for Al Ahly for years before being sold to Al Wakrah FC for $450,000 two years ago. He then returned for a month to participate in the 2025 Club World Cup with the Red Castle.

In recent hours, Pyramids FC has intensified negotiations with the player and reached an agreement on personal terms. His salary is said to exceed EGP 100 million annually.

Al Wakrah FC has agreed to sell Hamdi Fathi to Pyramids FC. The value of the deal has not been disclosed, but it is expected to be relatively inexpensive, with the likely figure ranging from EGP 20 million to EGP 30 million.

The deal is undoubtedly a huge surprise, given that the 30-year-old has long expressed his love and loyalty to Al Ahly, only to move to their new rivals. Mahmoud El Khatib’s management did not attempt to sign him permanently after his loan ended at the end of the World Cup.

Hamdi Fathy played 155 matches for Al Ahly in all competitions, scoring 144 goals and providing 10 assists. He won numerous titles, most notably three Egyptian Premier League titles and three CAF Champions League titles.
