Wissam Abu Ali equals Pelé’s record with Porto hat-trick!

Wissam Abu Ali delivered one of the best performances of his career, scoring three goals in Al Ahly’s 4-4 draw with Porto in the 2025 Club World Cup.

The Palestinian star made history with this hat-trick, achieving numerous unique and exceptional records and matching one of football’s greatest legends, the Brazilian Pelé.

Wissam Abu Ali became the first player from a non-European team to score a hat-trick against a European team since Pelé’s hat-trick against Benfica in 1962.

Wissam Abu Ali also became Al Ahly’s third-highest scorer in the Club World Cup (3 goals), behind Mohamed Aboutrika and Hussein El Shahat (4 goals each).

Perhaps Abu Ali’s hat-trick makes up for the disappointment of the Palmeiras match, when he conceded an own goal that turned the tide and cost the Red Devils a 2-0 defeat.

Meanwhile, Al Ahly became the first Arab team to score four goals against a European club in a FIFA competition. The Egyptian club has never been defeated by a Portuguese club, having previously won twice against Benfica and now drawn with Porto.
