After his name surfaced at the beginning of the summer and then the rumors subsided, many questions arose about Real Madrid’s current position on signing Stuttgart star Angelo Stiller.
Toni Kroos had recommended Stiller to Real Madrid’s management to bolster the midfield, and this option was particularly welcomed by coach Xabi Alonso.
However, according to AS, Stiller was never Real Madrid’s first choice for midfield reinforcement. Instead, Alonso and the club wanted to sign Real Sociedad star Martin Zubimendi.
Ultimately, the Spanish international opted for a move to Arsenal, while Real Madrid decided not to spend any significant sums on a midfielder this summer.
Practically speaking, Stiller is completely out of the picture, as Stuttgart wants more than €50 million to agree to sell the German international.
Real Madrid’s management currently prefers to focus on other deals related to the left-back and attack positions, with the possibility of reconsidering the Stuttgart case in the summer of 2026.
It is worth noting that the 24-year-old player has a release clause in his contract with Stuttgart that is activated after the 2026 World Cup and is worth only €50 million.
