The 22-year-old completed his move from Bayer Leverkusen for an initial £100 million on Friday and signed a long-term contract at Anfield.
“I didn’t come here to have fun. I also want to achieve something and give the fans what they deserve,” the Germany international told Liverpool FC media.
“I’m really excited about the new adventure ahead of me. That was also a big point in my thinking: that I wanted something completely new, to get out of the Bundesliga and join the Premier League.”
