The Club World Cup has witnessed many big results in its various editions since its inception in 2000, sometimes due to differences in level or the blatant collapse of a particular team.
These results are expected to increase in the 2025 edition, given that the group stage will bring together strong European teams and less powerful teams from various continents, some of which are unable to compete with the big boys.
The huge gap in level of performance could undoubtedly change history, and football fans certainly love watching goal-filled matches, even if they are one-sided.
What is the biggest win in the history of the Club World Cup?
Bayern Munich’s 10-0 victory over Auckland City in the 2025 edition is the biggest win in Club World Cup history.
Before that, Saudi Arabia’s Al Hilal defeated UAE’s Al Jazira in the 2022 Club World Cup quarterfinals, 6-1, which was the biggest win in the competition’s history.
Although Al Jazira played in the UAE with massive fan support and even scored the opening goal, Al Hilal came back from a 15-minute deficit to secure a resounding victory with six goals scored by six different players.
Strangely, Al Hilal subsequently suffered one of the biggest defeats in the tournament’s history, a 4-0 defeat to Al Ahly.
There are other significant results. The third, after Bayern and Al Hilal, is Espérance Sportive de Tunis, who defeated Qatar’s Al Sadd 6-2, while Monterrey’s 5-1 victory over Egypt’s Al Ahly is the fourth.
