Flick insists Barcelona sign an “old player”!

Barcelona is looking to secure its second summer signing after Joan Garcia, and Hansi Flick is determined to make it one of the players he previously coached at Bayern Munich.

Mundo Deportivo reported that the German coach asked Joan Laporta to sign 36-year-old Ivan Perisic.

The Croatian international spent last season with PSV Eindhoven, where he won the Dutch league title, scoring 16 goals and providing 11 assists.

Flick believes that signing Perisic would be extremely beneficial for Barcelona. The player can be relied upon in several positions, and he possesses exceptional quality and speed, even qualifying for a starting role when needed.

Flick bases his view on the success of Szczesny, an experienced player who arrived and made an immediate difference. With the abundance of matches next season, Perisic will be a strategic option and a valuable addition to Barça’s squad, especially in the Champions League.

The advantage that makes the deal likely to be completed is that the player’s contract with PSV Eindhoven has expired, so his transfer to Barcelona would not cost the Catalan club anything. His salary would also not be high, given his desire to compete at the highest level next season in preparation for the 2026 World Cup.

It should be noted that Perisic had one of the best seasons of his career with Bayern Munich under Flick, when the Bavarians won the historic treble. The coach then worked to convert the loan into a permanent transfer, but the German club’s management failed to achieve this.
